# Five tips for a successful job interview

An interview is a conversation, and the better prepared you are, the more natural it feels.

## 1. Research the employer

Know what they do, who they serve and what the role involves. Re-read the job advert and note where your experience matches.

## 2. Prepare your examples

Think of three or four real situations you can talk about: a problem you solved, a time you worked in a team, something you learned from a mistake.

## 3. Plan the practicalities

Work out your route or test your video link in advance, and aim to arrive or log in a few minutes early.

## 4. Ask questions

Have two or three ready, such as what a good first month looks like or how the team works together. It shows you are interested.

## 5. Follow up

A short thank-you message the same day is polite and keeps you in mind.
