Software Engineering Manager

Position: Engineering Manager

Location: Hybrid, NYC preferred, remote for the right candidate (EST only)

Role Overview: As an Engineering Manager, you will balance technical leadership with team management, dedicating approximately 30% of your time to hands-on activities such as architecture design and code reviews, and 70% to overseeing and guiding an 8-person engineering team comprising Front End, Backend, and Machine Learning Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership:
• Provide architectural guidance and conduct code reviews to maintain high-quality code standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and efficient systems.
• Team Management:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, and team performance metrics.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in computer science principles.
• 5+ years in engineering management roles, demonstrating effective leadership and team development.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in our tech stack: Go, Kafka, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, Kubernetes, AWS, and CI/CD pipelines. Candidates with strong experience in compiled languages and a willingness to learn Go are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience with B2B SaaS platforms, showcasing an understanding of scalable product development.

Interview Process:

1. Initial Phone Screen: Discussion with the hiring manager to assess fit and experience.
2. Technical Interview: Evaluation of technical skills and problem-solving abilities.
3. Presentation: Deliver a presentation to senior engineers and executives, demonstrating technical and leadership competencies.
4. Final Interview: Meeting with executive leadership for final assessment.
