A leading law firm is seeking an associate with 3–7 years of experience to join its Distressed Finance and Special Situations practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level attorney with strong transactional finance experience, particularly in distressed or leveraged finance matters, to work with a sophisticated team advising top-tier clients on complex deals and restructuring scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent lenders, sponsors, investors, and other stakeholders in distressed lending , restructurings , workouts , and special situations transactions.
- Assist in debt restructurings , recapitalizations , liability management and other related transactions.
- Draft, negotiate, and review financing documentation including credit agreements, intercreditor agreements, and security instruments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including restructuring, bankruptcy, and private equity practices.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from a top-tier law school.
- 2–7 years of relevant experience at a top law firm.
- Strong background in distressed finance , special situations investing , or debt/leveraged finance . Candidates with purely leveraged finance backgrounds who are looking to pivot into distressed/special situations are encouraged to apply.
- Solid transactional experience, with a focus on credit facilities and complex capital structures.
- Experience advising on intercreditor issues, enforcement rights, and bankruptcy considerations is a plus.
- Admission to the New York Bar (or eligibility to waive in) preferred.
