Job Description:
The Director of HR Compliance is responsible for overseeing company-wide adherence to labor and employment regulations across various states. This person will manage a team within HR Services, drive policy development, lead audits and investigations, and serve as a subject matter expert on employment law. Ideal candidates are strategic, detail-oriented, and experienced in navigating complex compliance landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor changes in labor laws and implement necessary policy updates to maintain compliance.
- Lead the HR Services team (Onboarding, Compliance, and Benefits staff).
- Develop, maintain, and enforce compliant HR practices across multiple states.
- Conduct internal audits and proactively address compliance risks.
- Guide HR and business leaders on employment laws, employee rights, and HR best practices.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to address compliance issues.
- Oversee compliance training and education programs across the organization.
- Support leadership with reporting on compliance activities and risk mitigation efforts.
- Ensure onboarding and employee documentation meets all regulatory standards (including FCRA).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in HR compliance or employment law, preferably across multiple states.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional projects.
- Experience with HR audits, investigations, and policy implementation.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
