As a Corporate Senior Accountant for Red Seat Ventures, you will be executing and overseeing the month end tasks including, but not limited to, bank reconciliations, all journal entries including but not limited to payroll, intercompany allocations, accrued commissions and revenue recognition, and monthly statements for customer revenue share and the sales department commissions report. This position will also be responsible for the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections process, along with the accounting of such activities. This role will support the company’s critical and strategic growth in our media footprint. This individual is expected to grow in the role and eventually take on additional responsibilities within the accounting group.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute the monthly accounting close process and prepare and ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Perform period-end closing activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules. These can include revenue share entries, commission accruals, talent commission accruals, or other revenue or expense accruals.
• Provide day-to-day operational support (e.g., reviewing invoices, resolving vendor issues) and oversee the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and bills.
• Ensure critical invoices are delivered to partners on a monthly basis – these can include management fee revenue, production recoupment, and shared services invoices
• Preparing excel-based customer statements and internal commission statements on a monthly basis from financial data
• Work with business owners to determine the proper accruals.
• Manage an outsourced accounting team on day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Responsible for all department level coding and the management of accounting systems.
• Serve as backup to Accounts Receivable processes including responding to client inquiries and entering invoices/bills/journal entries/collections/monthly accruals.
• Must have strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Liaise with internal and external partners to ensure the timely preparation of annual tax returns and monthly sales tax returns
• Work closely with the sales and production teams to manage contracts and ensure proper accounting for various revenue streams (e.g., licensing, sponsorships, media sales).
• Ad hoc analysis for customer data, support gathering data for forecasting, or support with systems implementation
• Knowledge of project accounting and cost tracking for production-related expenses.
• Experience with systems implementation and audits

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or other professional certifications preferred)
• 4+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or general accounting.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QBO, or NetSuite and Workday
• Experience with an AP and AR system such as Bill.com
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in the media and entertainment industry is a plus (e.g., film, TV, digital media, advertising).
• Experience with tax compliance and financial audits.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced startup environment, jumping between tasks, ensuring all items are finished in an effective and efficient manner

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $90,000.00 - $99,000.00 annually for high cost labor markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $90,000.00 - $99,000.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
