Senior Rust Desktop Framework Engineer Consultant

We have a current opportunity for a Senior Rust & Desktop Framework Engineer - Consultant on a contract basis.

Our Clients enterprise UX department has a specialized team dedicated to building a Rust-powered next-gen smart desktop platform with a stack similar to ElectronJS -designed to deliver high-performance, multi-window, interoperable & web-enabled applications for enterprise use cases. Our mission is to create a performant, robust and scalable platform that meets the demands of real-time financial operations, data-intensive tasks, and advanced user interactions in a virtualized environment.

Role Overview:

This is a senior-level position for an engineer who has deep experience with the Rust programming language, performance optimizations, and desktop application frameworks. You will work as a part of the UI/UX team in collaboration with Cloud, DevOps, and various stakeholders to ensure that our platform delivers apps with near-native performance, and an exceptional user experience.

Responsibilities:

• Architect & Build: Design, develop, and maintain core Rust-based platform modules, ensuring efficient memory management and low-latency performance.
• Desktop Integration: Implement or integrate frameworks to deliver enterprise-grade desktop applications with reliable messaging layers and minimal overhead.
• Real-time Interop & Events: Optimize concurrency, threading, and data streaming to handle real-time messaging & event processing with minimal latency.
• Performance Tuning: Profile, benchmark, and optimize Rust code to maintain consistent performance, even under heavy load.
• Mentorship & Guidance: Lead and support other developers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions, championing Rust best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Extensive Rust Experience: Proven track record developing high-performance Rust applications, preferably in mission-critical or enterprise contexts.

Desktop Frameworks: Familiarity with Tauri, Electron, or other multi-window desktop technologies. Experience with custom WebView-based solutions is a big plus.

Concurrency & Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of async Rust, multithreading, event loops, and performance tuning in a production environment.

Web Tech Stack: Comfort with modern front-end frameworks (React), plus knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, or Next.js.

Collaboration & Communication: Ability to deeply engage in discussions on system design and architecture and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have:

• Financial/High-Performance Background: Experience in finance or other high-availability industries, optimizing latency and throughput for real-time data pipelines.
• Message Bus & Streaming: Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, or other event-streaming frameworks.
