Our client, a luxury brand, is hiring a Senior Accounting Manager to join their team in NYC on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office).
Job Duties Include:
- Oversee staff including coaching, providing feedback, and collaborating with HR as needed
- Perform reviews of data generating financial statements to include accuracy
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, etc.
- Manage submission of final numbers in alignment with the timeline dictated
- Oversee and understand business processes and how data is feeding into the financial statement including reconciling payroll, preparation of sales reports, booking variable rent journal entries, etc.
- Partner with external teams to review tax returns and provide feedback for approval
- Analyze accounts on a monthly basis including accruals and prepaid and variance explanations
- Analyze and record general ledger activity for various P&L and balance sheet accounts
- Assist in compilation of internal financial statements for corporate management
- Prepare and file sales tax as needed and prepare use tax schedules for self-assessment
- Liaise with external auditors on financial audits and tax audits
- Develop and maintain accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency
- Provide administrative support to the department as needed including financial reporting and general reconciliation tasks
- Ad hoc duties and projects as needed and assigned
Job Qualifications Include:
- 7+ years of Accounting experience
- 3+ years in a management role
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Prior sales tax experience
- Knowledge of IFRS 16 and SAP knowledge
- Rent related expense management
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Excel a must; BPC, AS 400, and Cognos are a plus
- Highly detail-oriented
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with reporting packages and schedules for financial closings
- Experience with SOX or internal controls is preferred
- Industry experience from retail or consumer goods is preferred
Salary: $130k - $140k annually
