Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Review
Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws.
Review work of junior staff members and provide feedback and guidance to ensure accurate and timely completion of client filings.
Supervise and manage the day-to-day workflow for multiple tax engagements and ensure deadlines are met.
Review tax-related financial statements and supporting schedules, ensuring all necessary disclosures and elections are included.
Manage tax compliance for clients, including all aspects of tax filings, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
Client Service & Relationship Management
Maintain and foster client relationships by providing exceptional service, identifying client needs, and proactively addressing tax issues.
Respond to client inquiries regarding tax-related issues and provide appropriate solutions.
Assist in managing client portfolios and act as the primary point of contact for clients on day-to-day tax matters.
Participate in client meetings, discussing complex tax issues and providing clear explanations of tax strategies, opportunities, and risks.
Help identify opportunities for tax-saving strategies and assist clients in achieving their long-term financial goals.
Tax Planning & Strategy
Assist with tax planning and strategy development for individuals, businesses, and high-net-worth clients.
Conduct research and provide advice on complex tax issues such as mergers and acquisitions, business structures, international tax matters, and more.
Assist clients with strategic tax planning in areas such as income tax, estate planning, retirement planning, and corporate structures.
Collaborate with senior tax professionals and partners to devise solutions for complex tax situations.
Team Supervision & Development
Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to junior associates and staff on tax preparation, tax research, and client service matters.
Review the work of junior staff and offer constructive feedback and coaching to ensure growth and development.
Assist in the training of new hires and junior staff in tax software, firm procedures, and tax compliance requirements.
Support the development of junior staff by encouraging a collaborative team environment and fostering professional growth.
Tax Research & Compliance
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law changes, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations and applying them to client situations.
Conduct in-depth research on complex tax issues, provide recommendations to clients and the firm, and assist in the development of tax-efficient strategies.
Monitor key developments in tax law and communicate relevant updates to clients and internal teams.
Assist with tax audits and reviews, including preparing documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
Special Projects & Miscellaneous Duties
Assist with special tax-related projects, including tax modeling, scenario analysis, and technical tax research.
Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed by the tax department or firm leadership.
Collaborate with other departments (audit, assurance, consulting) on multi-disciplinary projects that involve tax considerations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
CPA certification (required) or actively pursuing.
A minimum of 3-5 years of tax experience in public accounting, with a strong focus on tax preparation, compliance, and planning.
Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities.
Proficiency in using tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, CCH, Thomson Reuters) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide creative solutions to complex tax issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients in an easily understandable way.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Taxation (preferred).
Experience with international tax issues, multi-state taxation, or tax provision preparation (a plus).
Experience with tax audit representation or handling IRS/State Department of Taxation inquiries.
Strong understanding of tax planning for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and estates.
