Payroll Analyst

Spectrum Staffing Group is actively recruiting a Payroll Analyst/Payroll Accountant for a large professional services company in Houston. This position plays a critical role in month end close and payroll reporting.

Responsibilities

• Supports processing weekly and biweekly payroll
• Works multifunctionally for reporting and effective communication
• Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.
• Use advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas) to manipulate, analyze, and maintain payroll data.
• Answers all legal communications directly. This includes any communications regarding unemployment, employment and wage verification, and garnishments. All garnishments are also entered directly into the system in a timely manner. Inputs into HRIS/HCM system as required by law.
• Works with Risk Management to provide reports related to Worker’s Compensation issues.
• dvises supervisor of any accounting issues that may arise and recommends viable and timely solutions.
• Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides General Ledger support as needed.
• Ensures compliance with SOX control documentation.
• Monitors 401(k) including processing, funding, and testing; as well as employee benefit reporting and assists with audits of benefit plans.
• Ensures payroll compliance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience
• CPP or working towards it is preferable
• Experience with ADP Vantage a plus
• Advanced Excel
• 2+ years of working with payroll accounting for reconciling, clearing exceptions and making tax adjustments within the HRIS system
