Vice President of Human Resources

A fast-growing and mission-driven company transforming the skilled trades and essential services industry in the tri-state area is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to lead and scale its people strategy. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic organization that blends operational excellence with innovation and sustainability.
Our client is looking for a hands-on, strategic HR leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and is energized by building and refining processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate has experience supporting both field/trade professionals and corporate teams, and is comfortable operating in startup-like settings where adaptability and initiative are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end recruitment across NY and CT, including workforce planning, interview process design, and candidate experience.
- Collaborate with finance to design and implement competitive benefits strategies, including healthcare plan negotiations and PEO optimization.
- Partner with operations to develop training programs, skill ladders, employee handbooks, and performance management processes.
- Contribute to M&A activities through HR due diligence and systems integration.
- Manage workforce development programs, including apprenticeship and training subsidies.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven ability to build or scale HR functions in entrepreneurial or startup environments.
- Experience managing a mixed workforce that includes both skilled trades and office professionals.
- Strong background in benefits strategy, PEO transitions, and employee relations.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building systems from scratch.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience supporting non-union and union trade-based workforces.
- Exposure to apprenticeship or workforce development programs.
- Familiarity with Paychex or similar HRIS platforms.
Location & Schedule
- Based in Bronx, NY with periodic travel to locations in Westchester County and CT.
- Full-time, onsite role typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility to support the business as needed.
