The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a key member of the firm’s executive leadership team, responsible for driving the internal operations that support the strategic objectives of the Board of Directors. With a modern focus on talent strategy, technology leadership, and operational scalability, the CAO ensures that the firm’s infrastructure, people, and systems support sustained growth, risk mitigation, and a collaborative culture. Chief Administrative Officer
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides strategic and operational leadership across all administrative functions of the firm, including Human Resources, Information Technology, Finance, Marketing, and Facilities. With an emphasis on digital modernization and talent optimization, the CAO works in close partnership with the Board of Directors to ensure the firm is positioned for sustainable growth.
The CAO is accountable for translating strategic goals into actionable plans and overseeing the systems, policies, and teams that drive internal efficiency and long-term value.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience professional services setting, including direct responsibility for HR and IT.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise-wide change, managing cross-functional teams, and enhancing business performance.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven judgment, professionalism, and discretion in handling confidential and high-stakes matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Board of Directors.
- Lead administrative alignment with firmwide vision and objectives.
- Drive firm-wide initiatives around growth, scalability, talent, and modernization.
Human Resources Strategy & Culture
- Lead the development of high-impact HR strategies, including talent acquisition, engagement, development, and compliance.
- Maintain a performance-driven, inclusive workplace culture.
- Oversee compensation structures, benefits design, DEI initiatives, and workforce analytics.
Technology & Innovation
- Partner with the IT Director to manage and modernize the firm’s technology stack, including practice management, document automation, and cybersecurity systems.
- Evaluate and implement tech and AI tools that enhance firm efficiency and client service delivery.
- Oversee IT governance, disaster recovery, and user training programs.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Oversee risk and compliance systems across HR, IT, insurance, and firm policies.
- Ensure the firm maintains professional liability coverage, data security, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage firmwide policy development, employee training, and response protocols.
Financial Operations & Oversight
- Collaborate with the Controller and Treasurer to manage the firm’s budgeting process and monitor key financial indicators.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic input on compensation models, cost control, and capital planning.
- Participate in partner transactions (buy-in, buy-out, valuations).
Marketing & Client Development Support
- Support the Marketing Director and Board in strategic business development planning.
- Help integrate marketing, talent, and technology goals into cohesive firmwide initiatives.
Facilities
- Oversee facilities management to ensure safety, function, and a professional client experience.
