Since launching its internal insurance arm in 2019, the company has scaled rapidly, focusing on innovation through telematics and integrated vehicle services. With continued growth, the Head of Legal & Compliance is adding an experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney to support the Claims function and broader legal initiatives.

Role Summary

This in-house legal role reports to the Head of Legal & Compliance and supports the Claims Department by evaluating complex pre-litigation claims and advising on policy coverage and compliance. You'll also contribute to policy drafting and serve as a legal partner on various risk and compliance strategies. This position is fully non-litigation, offers equity, and eliminates the need for billable hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on auto-related insurance coverage issues and regulatory compliance
• Evaluate complex pre-litigation claims and assist in their resolution
• Draft and review insurance policy forms, endorsements, and communications
• Partner with internal teams on coverage positions, process improvements, and risk mitigation
• Support innovation-driven legal initiatives tied to telematics-based insurance offerings

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of insurance coverage or insurance defense experience
• Strong understanding of auto liability and bodily injury claims; exposure to bad faith and policy language drafting is a plus
• Active California Bar license in good standing
