Job Description
Senior Project Architect – Real Estate Development
We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Senior Project Architect to help shape shopping centers and mixed-use developments across Texas and other growing markets. This is an in-house role with a real estate developer , where you’ll be involved in projects from the earliest design stages all the way through to construction. You’ll work closely with teams across leasing, construction, and development to bring these projects to life. If you enjoy hands-on design, problem solving, and seeing your work make a real impact on communities, this could be a great fit!
Primary Responsibilities:
Site Planning & Conceptual Design
- Create and revise site plans for retail and mixed-use projects based on leasing activity and tenant requirements.
- Ensure site layouts prioritize access, visibility, parking, and signage.
- Develop layout and feasibility options across ground-up, redevelopment, and infill projects.
- Collaborate with leasing reps and internal teams to evolve plans throughout the deal cycle.
Project Oversight & Design Management
- Lead design efforts on 15–25 active projects of varying size and complexity.
- Coordinate with third-party architects (AORs) and engineers to avoid duplication and keep projects moving.
- Work closely with the development and construction teams to align early designs with buildability and cost considerations.
- Influence and improve design quality from early LODs (Levels of Development) through CDs (Construction Documents).
Cross-Team Collaboration & Strategy
- Interface daily with leasing, legal, construction, and external consultants.
- Serve as a key internal resource for architectural decisions — helping ensure sites are designed to attract the right tenants and serve the surrounding community.
- Provide leadership in streamlining internal architectural processes with an eye toward eventually expanding in-house capabilities.
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10+ years of architectural experience , preferably in retail, commercial, or mixed-use
- Strong site planning and comfortable creating and revising plans independently
- Licensed Architect (or working toward licensure )
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite ; experience with BIM and other modeling software is a plus.
- Familiar with coordinating with leasing reps, AORs, engineers, and municipalities
Why Work With Us?
- Work developer-side and see your work directly shape growing communities
- Collaborate across departments — your seat at the table matters here
- Lead meaningful, complex projects from mall redevelopments to mixed-use infill
- Enjoy a down-to-earth, ego-free team and a flexible schedule with early Fridays
- Competitive compensation and long-term growth opportunity
Are you an architect ready to take your talents in-house and influence design at a broader scale? We’d love to hear from you — apply now!
