Sr. Risk Manager
The Sr. Manager, Risk Management will provide essential and high-quality risk services to all associates. This individual will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Risk Management strategy, setting standards for safety, quality, training, and compliance. The position will partner with executive leadership and functional departments to ensure all safety and compliance programs are administered effectively. Responsibilities also include oversight of Emergency Response Plans and environmental compliance initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Risk Management strategy (e.g., driver training, regulatory compliance, cargo securement, event recorder management).
- Provide leadership across all aspects of Risk Management.
- Leverage technology and data to improve risk management efficiency and outcomes.
- Lead and develop a team supporting risk management efforts.
- Collaborate with management and HR to ensure required regulatory, safety, and job-specific training is delivered; support new hire orientation and oversee Driver Training Programs.
- Monitor accident investigations and Emergency Response Plans; interface with external agencies and internal teams to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Ensure timely reporting and investigation of all claims and accidents.
- Administer FMCSA/DOT guidelines related to fleet safety and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, FMCSA/DOT, and all state/federal safety regulations.
- Analyze and recommend cost controls related to workers’ comp and return-to-work programs.
- Lead Business Continuity planning and execution.
- Act as company representative in litigation cases involving risk management, as directed by legal counsel.
- Interface with third parties (e.g., OEMs, dealerships, ports) on risk-related concerns such as unsafe logistics practices.
- Maintain all programs focused on associate safety.
- Ensure environmental regulatory compliance.
- Direct Safety & Compliance initiatives as needed.
- Educate fleet operations and drivers on FMCSR regulations (logs, pre-trips, DVIR, etc.); partner with Driver Training Manager and operations to enhance training and compliance.
- Train drivers on damage and incident reporting procedures; provide one-on-one coaching and communications.
- Analyze safety data and communicate findings; drive initiatives to improve driver safety performance.
- Evaluate and recommend driver performance standards and necessary updates to senior management.
- Safeguard consumer/customer data in accordance with policies.
- Review and follow data privacy policies and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct supervision of one or more employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance reviews, and handling complaints.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and 8–10 years of relevant transportation industry experience.
- DOT/OSHA experience at a motor carrier is required.

Physical Demands
- Regular data analysis, computer work, and communication required.
- Frequent movement within office and occasional out-of-state travel.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 10 pounds frequently, and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and loud environments.
- Minimal travel (up to 20%, domestic).
