About the Role
The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing day-to-day field operations on large-scale water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who has field experience, a strong work ethic, and is ready to step into a leadership role while learning directly from experienced superintendents and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent in managing and coordinating daily field operations, subcontractors, and craft personnel
- Support project scheduling and short-interval planning to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget
- Help monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specs, and quality standards
- Coordinate inspections, safety walks, and daily reports
- Enforce site safety plans and promote a safety-first culture
- Assist in the layout, material tracking, and documentation of installed work
- Communicate with project managers and engineers to identify and resolve issues on-site
- Develop leadership skills by mentoring laborers and foremen under the Superintendent's guidance
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, preferably in water/wastewater or underground utility work
- Familiarity with interpreting construction drawings, specs, and schedules
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions on active construction sites
- OSHA 30 certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Working Conditions
- Full-time, on-site at active construction projects
- Physical role requiring standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and exposure to job site environments
- Travel to project sites as needed
