Safety Manager – Data Center Construction
Location: Sterling, VA
Compensation: $45.00–$50.00/hour + $1,000/week per diem
Employment Type: Full-Time (Immediate start)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a high-profile data center construction project in Sterling, VA. The ideal candidate will, possess strong knowledge of construction safety standards, and hold relevant certifications (OSHA 30, OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, etc.). This individual will serve as the key point of contact for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management onsite and will work closely with project leadership to maintain a safe, compliant, and injury-free work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance efforts for a multi-trade data center construction project.
- Conduct and document daily safety inspections and site audits.
- Deliver site-specific safety orientations to workers in both English and Spanish.
- Facilitate Daily Hazard Analysis (DHA) discussions and ensure proper implementation.
- Participate in planning and coordination of crane and heavy equipment operations.
- Lead investigations for incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with general contractor and trade partners to promote a strong safety culture.
- Analyze safety data to identify trends and implement proactive solutions.
- Review contractor EHS plans and assist in the development of site-specific programs when necessary.
- Monitor trade contractor performance to ensure compliance with all safety protocols.
- Ensure that all site personnel are properly trained and qualified for their assigned tasks.
- Partner with subcontractor safety professionals and lead the project safety leadership team.
- Serve as a liaison with the client’s risk management and EHS representatives.
- Conduct ongoing safety training sessions and toolbox talks.
- Support and maintain a positive reinforcement and recognition program to encourage safe behavior.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of EHS experience, preferably on large-scale construction projects such as data centers.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, with the ability to lead meetings and trainings in both languages.
- OSHA 30, OSHA 510 required; OSHA 500, CHST, CSP, ASP, or STSC strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Strong computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
