Non-CDL Truck Driver
FULL-TIME
Location: Ridgefield Park, NJ
Reports to: Director of Operations
OVERVIEW
The Non-CDL Truck Diver will, in a safe and timely manner, load, drive and unload equipment necessary for events the organization is producing in venues spanning the greater New York area, Boston, Washington D.C. and the Philadelphia area as well as pick up and return rented equipment.
The position is an integral part of the organization’s logistics team and over all operational health. Primary obligations include ensuring the equipment is strapped in a way that reduces or omits load shift, ensuring the vehicle’s payload is in balance and that all local traffic rules and regulations are followed all while working on rigorous timelines.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- At the direction of the Trucking and Logistics Coordinator, Driver will load, drive and unload equipment needed for specific events at the time required, while ensuring that payloads are secured within the dry box and cab.
- Driver will follow company SOP and ensure that with each load there is a signed and dated trucking sheet indicating starting odometer, ending odometer, destination, and time stamp for each destination.
- A walk around visual inspection should be conducted once daily to ensure that all lights, tires, and other vehicle components are of road worthiness. If there is an issue, the driver will report the issue via the driver log sheet and with verbal communication to a member of the Operations leadership team.
- Driver must ensure they are continuously certified with an MVC health card and that their state issued driver’s license is valid at all times.
- Should an accident occur, driver is responsible for the exchange of insurance and contact information with the other party involved as well as obtaining a police report. Driver must notify Operations and Accounting teams of the incident as soon as it is safe and possible.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum three-five years of experience, preferably in a similar work environment.
- CDL Class B is a plus.
- Availability during weekend and evening hours is a must.
- Must have a clean driving record.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Strong background and work experience in events industry
- Efficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Context of equipment functionality and ancillary equipment needed for proper execution.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and warehouse/trucking logistics; implementing best practices.
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
- Excels at operating in a fast-paced, community environment.
- Must be a well-organized individual.
- Excellent team player, open to direction, collaborative work style, and commitment to executing the client’s vision with high-quality standards.
- Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization, extrinsically and creatively
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Flexibility with work hours required as overtime is necessary during high volume seasons, physical inventory, and other peaks times as they arise.
- Must have a clean DMV record.
