Job Description
Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment organization, is currently seeking a Head Teacher/Learning Specialist for a family who travels between Los Angeles and Manhattan and would like to hire a private teacher/learning specialist for their two children. The family will provide housing and cover all travel expenses . The children are entering Kindergarten and 1st grade and will need an engaging and experienced educator to work with them during the school year.

Position Overview :
Mercer St School is seeking an experienced educator to join their family team and help guide their soon-to-be Kindergarten and 1st grade children in their academic journeys. They are looking for someone who is interested in working in a unique, small, independent, and well-supported academic setting. The teacher/learning specialist’s primary duties are to provide educational services in a caring and positive manner. The teacher should be equipped to nurture giftedness while also supporting students' attention, focus, and stamina. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced teacher looking for a non-traditional, more independent, and flexible classroom.
Responsibilities of the Head Teacher/Learning Specialist:
- Provide daily instruction in various subjects for two children.
- Collaborate with the parents to understand academic goals, priorities, and areas for improvement.
- Develop personalized academic plans and strategies tailored to each child's learning style and needs.
- Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Assist in coordinating educational resources, including textbooks, materials, and field trips.
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Education required.
- Substantial experience teaching young children (ages 5-8) in a school or education setting.
- Demonstrates emotional stability and self-awareness.
- Geographic flexibility required. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, either to/from NYC or Los Angeles.
- Possess deep expertise in diverse pedagogical approaches, child development, educational principles, and learning philosophies.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with both students and parents, and the ability to collaborate closely with our team.
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications ($150,000-$300,000).
