Product Owner
PayKeeper
Job Description
About PayKeeper
PayKeeper is a fast-growing fintech startup redefining how funds move in complex transactions. Our escrow and payment solutions simplify trust-based payments for contractors, lenders, homeowners, and service providers. We support use cases ranging from home improvement construction to online marketplaces, offering scalable, secure, and intuitive software.
We’re building products that power seamless, conditional, and compliant fund movement—without the traditional overhead of manual fund control.
The Role
We’re looking for a Product Owner who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited to own the backlog for mission-critical financial workflows. As our first dedicated Product Owner, you’ll collaborate closely with our Chief Product Officer, CTO, and engineers to turn business needs into product requirements and ensure successful delivery of features across our escrow and payments platform. This is an in-office position, with flexibility for some remote work as needed.
Responsibilities
- Own the product backlog: prioritize, refine, and groom stories in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Translate business goals and customer needs into clear, actionable product requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with design and engineering to deliver intuitive user experiences that solve real-world payment challenges.
- Participate in sprint planning and serve as the voice of the user during development.
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and customer success to continuously improve workflows.
- Help define KPIs and use data to inform prioritization decisions.
- Stay informed on industry trends, compliance standards (ACH, credit card processing, surcharging), and competitive solutions.
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5 years of experience in product ownership, product management, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies (Kanban or Scrum).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fintech or payments experience strongly preferred.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Self-motivated, driven, and comfortable taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player who collaborates well across departments and listens with curiosity and empathy.
- Strong cultural fit — we value humility, flexibility, integrity, and a mission-first mindset.
- Comfortable working remotely and independently in a startup setting.
Bonus Points
- Experience with construction payments, escrow, fund control, or conditional disbursement systems.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks for ACH, NACHA, and credit card payments.
- Ability to run basic SQL queries or analyze product usage data.
Why Join PayKeeper
- Work on meaningful fintech infrastructure that directly impacts how people get paid.
- Collaborate with a lean and high-performing team of builders and innovators.
- Flexible remote work culture with autonomy and trust.
- Competitive salary.
- Health, dental, and vision benefits.
