Job Description
A well-established construction contractor in the Southeast is seeking an experienced Field Technician to support heavy equipment maintenance and repair operations in Louisiana .
This hands-on role is responsible for diagnosing and servicing a wide range of construction machinery both in the shop and out in the field. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, reliable, and comfortable working in varying environments and on rotating crews.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repair on heavy construction equipment including earth movers, pavers, loaders, rock crushers, pumps, compressors, and grading equipment.
- Conduct routine service tasks including lubrication, filtration, and inspections.
- Assist with overhauls of diesel and gas engines, transmissions, and cooling systems.
- Support field crews with emergency repairs and preventive maintenance on-site.
- Operate basic machine tools (lathes, grinders, presses) and perform welding or burning tasks as needed.
- Identify and manage equipment parts using catalogs and inventory procedures.
- Collaborate with day, night, or traveling crews to meet operational demands.
- Ensure equipment is serviced in accordance with safety standards and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with team leads and supervisors.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a strong work ethic in all job assignments.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must provide personal basic tools; specialty tools provided as needed.
- Ability to travel and work overtime, weekends, or out-of-town as necessary.
- Must pass a drug test and background check.
- Welding, fabrication, and field diagnostics experience strongly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
