Job Description
The Executive Director serves as the strategic and operational leader of Community Resource Services (CRS), a nonprofit dedicated to meeting critical needs and uplifting residents of Avon and Avon Lake. Through compassionate support and local partnerships, CRS provides food, emergency assistance, and connections to essential services.
The Executive Director reports to and works in partnership with the board of directors and is responsible for developing and managing the organization’s budget, fundraising, and supervising paid staff and volunteers. This is a full-time (30-40 hours per week), salaried position, including some weekend and evening hours based on events and meetings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Governance:
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop strategic goals, financial plans, and organizational priorities
• Report monthly to the board and prepare meeting materials, including financial reports
• Facilitate strategic planning and ensure alignment with mission
Fundraising & Community Engagement:
• Serve as the primary fundraiser; develop and implement fundraising and grant-writing strategies
• Lead the planning and execution of key events including the annual Charity Ball and Annual Fund Campaign
• Represent CRS in the community through speaking engagements, media contributions, and relationship-building
Programs & Services:
• Ensure the delivery of effective programs and services aligned with community needs
• Maintain high levels of program efficiency, responsiveness, and client satisfaction
Operations & Staff Management:
• Hire, train, and supervise staff
• Manage volunteers and foster an inclusive, supportive team culture
• Oversee budgeting, financial management, and office administration
• Approve expenditures and administer personnel policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; minimum six years in nonprofit or relevant leadership roles
• Experience supervising staff and collaborating with a board of directors
• Background in human services or social work a plus
• Strong communicator with proven public speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in nonprofit financial management, including budgeting and fund accounting
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor development
• Positive, mission-driven attitude with a commitment to compassionate, client centered service
• Self-starter with strong organizational and leadership skills
