LSF is seeking a talented Youth Support Intern who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.
The schedule for this role may require some evenings and weekends!
Purpose and Impact:
The Youth Support Intern provides basic support to staff and residents in a group home setting serving at-risk youth. The role focuses on creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment while learning about youth care under supervision. This role is a direct care position and is supervised at all times by trained staff.
Essential Functions :
- Assist staff with organizing recreational, educational, or life skills activities.
- Help with meal prep, cleanup, and maintaining a clean common area.
- Provides office and administrative assistance.
- Assist with tutoring.
- Build positive, age-appropriate relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Support staff in supervising group activities and encouraging participation.
- Attend required training sessions and follow all safety and confidentiality guidelines.
- Observe and report any concerns to supervising staff promptly.
Education:
This entry-level position is ideal for high school students interested in human services, education, psychology, or social work.
Experience:
This is an entry-level position.
Skills:
Reliable, mature, and able to follow directions.
Able to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently move throughout the residential facility, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and transitioning between indoor and outdoor program areas.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., supplies, youth belongings, donations).
- Ability to engage in approved physical interventions and de-escalation practices if trained and when necessary for safety.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, reach, and perform light physical activity for extended periods while supervising and assisting youth.
- Sufficient vision and hearing to observe behaviors, communicate clearly, and respond to safety concerns or emergencies.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use computers, phones, and other office and facility equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays, depending on program needs.

Valid driver's license and appropriate auto liability insurance required.
