• Day: 3x12-Hour (07:00 – 19:30)
• Night: 3x12-Hour (19:00 – 07:30) (Straight nights accepted)

Job Description:

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a highly skilled and motivated CVICU Registered Nurse to join the Cardiac ICU team at UM St. Joseph Medical Center. The RN will care for critically ill cardiovascular patients in a 6-bed CVICU and support complex post-operative cardiac surgical cases. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced ICU nurses with strong cardiovascular backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care for critically ill adult patients following cardiac procedures such as CABG, MVR, AVR , TAVR , and mitral clips
• Manage and monitor complex equipment including IABP, CRRT, Impella, ECMO, OHS , and hemodynamic support devices
• Administer and titrate vasoactive medications
• Perform clinical assessments and communicate changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including intensivists, perfusionists, and surgeons
• Float to MSICU as required
• Participate in required on-call shifts and cover holidays as scheduled

Unit Details:

• Beds: 6
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Average Daily Census: 3-5
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Post-op cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR)
  • ICU readmissions, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock
  • Structural heart procedures: TAVR, mitral clips
  • Inari procedure, open chest care, hemodynamic instability

Requirements:

• Licensure: Active MD RN license (or compact)
• Certifications (Required): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI
• Preferred Certifications: OCN, TCNN
• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience
  • Will accept first-time travelers with relevant CVICU experience

Additional Details:

• Floating: To MSICU as needed
• Weekends: Every third weekend required
• Holidays: Required as they fall
• On-Call: 24-32 hours per 8-week schedule
