Mid shift – 1p-1a or 3p-3a,

Position Details:

• Department: Emergency Room (ER)
• Trauma Level: Level II Trauma Center (adults and pediatrics)
  • Stroke and STEMI receiving
• Facility Beds:
  • 35 ER beds including 2 trauma bays
  • Fast Track: 8-bed unit
  • Triage Area: Separate triage space using the ESI triage algorithm
  • Psych/Seclusion Rooms: Yes – managed by ER nurses
  • ER Holding Area: Intermixed within the ER

Staffing & Patient Care:

• Average Daily Census: ~111 patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Trauma (GSW, violent crime), stroke, STEMI, mental health
  • Pediatric: respiratory illness, fractures
• Drips: All critical care drips
• Support Staff:
  • Charge Nurse: Available 24/7
  • Nurse Aides: LPNs (nights), Techs, Paramedics (IVs, EKGs, blood draws)
  • Respiratory Therapy: RT responds to all codes; not housed in ER
  • Imaging: X-Ray and CT located next door
  • Phlebotomy: RNs and Techs perform all blood draws
  • Monitor Techs: ER nurses responsible for monitoring and interpreting tele strips
• Physician Coverage: 2 MDs and 3 Mid-levels during peak volume

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year recent ER experience required
• Pediatrics experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted if they have >1 year total ER experience

Certifications Required:

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
  • Note: TNCC may be waived for candidates with extensive ER experience

Scheduling & Shifts:

• Shift Start Times: Varied – 5am, 6am, 8am, 10am, 12pm, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm (12-hour shifts)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Not required
• Orientation: One 12-hour unit-specific orientation shift
