Certified Medical Assistant Highlights

Responsibilities

Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas as appropriate
Record vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication updates prior to each physician visit
Retrieve necessary patient records for physician review prior to procedures or treatment
Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms; order supplies as needed
Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated
Disinfect and maintain exam/treatment rooms according to protocol
Answer patient calls and route appropriately to physician, nurse, or pharmacist
Phone in prescriptions and make patient calls under physician or RN direction
Notify physician of patient reschedules or no-shows
Perform clerical tasks such as typing, filing, faxing, chart prep, and reception duties
May enter medical orders under provider supervision

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant required
Current BCLS certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire)
CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) certification required
