Job Description
In this role you will perform cardiac ultrasound examinations on patients encompassing structurally normal cardiac anatomy to simple congenital heart disease.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform cardiac ultrasound examinations to define and document anatomy and physiology of the heart, identify or rule out congenital anomalies, and assess ventricular function in pre and post operative patients.
Assist in planning case methodology and conducts comprehensive examinations in noninvasive lab as needed.
Analyze test results and prepares preliminary diagnoses and findings for physicians' review.
Establish supportive relationship with patients and families. Explain examination procedures to patients/parents and notify them of scheduling problems or changes.
Clean, sterilize and inspect transducers according to established procedures. Clean and maintain examination rooms and equipment.
Assist in data collection for research studies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Completion of high school or equivalent education. Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program that includes one year of clinical experience in pediatric and/or adult echocardiography.
Pediatric echocardiography specialty preferred.
Experience:
Clinical rotations in relevant field
Licensure/ Certifications:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography (RDCS) certification (adult or pediatric) from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). New graduates must obtain certification within one year from the date of graduation.
A current Basic Life Support certification (BLS) in accordance with American Heart Association standards is required.
