Post Haste is a New American cocktail bar and restaurant in the Fishtown/East Kensington area that focuses on sourcing locally and seasonally. Our concept is to create a world class cocktail bar with a robust food program, which reduces the typical restaurant carbon footprint by sourcing all ingredients as locally as possible.
Our local sourcing means that we don't import any of our spirits, produce, citrus or sugars. Instead we focus on supporting our local farmers, distillers and makers, while having a great time every night. We were named one of the best bars in the country by Esquire, and one of the 15 essential cocktail bars in Philadelphia by Eater.
We are searching for an experienced bartender / server to join our team. Specifically we are looking to hire someone who has worked at a craft cocktail program in a busy environment, has familiarity with restaurant steps of service, and will provide a fantastic, memorable guest experience.
Post Haste dances between casual and fine dining, neighborhood focus and a larger national draw. We are looking for a new team member who is comfortable in both of these worlds, who knows classic cocktail recipes but loves to be creative on their own, and who is comfortable both serving and behind the bar.
There are no barbacks or runners at our restaurant - everyone helps each other - and the bartenders complete all prep of cocktail ingredients, batching of liquors, ice prep, etc. We are looking for someone who is interested in what we offer, and who wants to work hard & have fun. Essential Duties
- Complete all tasks required to open the bar and set up for service, including preparing garnishes and syrups
- Provide prompt, efficient and courteous service of food & beverage to guests.
- Effectively communicate Post Haste's concept to guests
- Explain food & beverage menu items, making recommendations based upon guest preference.
- Work as a team with other Servers and Bartenders.
- Communicate any delays, complaints or other potential negative impressions to managers & shift leaders quickly and efficiently.
- Create memorable experiences for guests.
- Work with and support other team members.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma preferred.
- Minimum one (1) to two (2) years prior experience in high volume, fine-casual or fine-dining environments.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a team player with a strong work ethic.
- Exceptional hospitality/guest relations.
- Prior knowledge/use of Toast or similar POS is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of craft cocktails, classic cocktails, beer, and wine, especially brands local to Philadelphia & the East Coast.
- Experience with a variety of cooking techniques
- Knowledge of current industry trends
- Knowledge of sustainability in relation to food and beverage
