Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 Annually

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Director of Civic Engagement to lead initiatives that enhance the YMCA's role in community empowerment through civic participation. The role involves developing partnerships, organizing events across branches, and managing voter registration and education programs. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader passionate about promoting democratic engagement and community education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partnership Development & Management
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, civic organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders.
- Identify and secure strategic partnerships to support community empowerment.
- Serve as the primary contact for civic engagement and voter education activities.
- Plan and execute civic engagement events across all branches, ensuring accessibility and impact.
- Coordinate workshops, community discussions, and other civic events.
- Manage logistics, marketing, and volunteers to maximize participation.
- Lead voter registration and education efforts, focusing on underserved populations.
- Implement educational campaigns on voting and civic responsibilities.
- Develop outreach strategies for voter registration drives and civic participation campaigns.
- Engage branch staff in civic activities and ensure they are informed and involved.
- Assess program effectiveness through participation metrics and feedback.
- Collaborate with Fund Development to report on program needs and outcomes.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, social work, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least three years of experience in civic engagement, public policy, or community outreach, with proven partnership and event management skills.
- Strong knowledge of voter registration, civic rights, and educational best practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in nonprofit or community organizations preferred.
- Passion for community empowerment and active citizenship.
