The Enterprise Services Business Risk Office (ESR) provides risk management support to several lines of business across the Enterprise. ESR is on the cutting edge of risk management to provide leadership and support for new and emerging technologies as well as critical business strategies.

As an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Technical Risk Director with the Enterprise Services Risk team you will partner with colleagues across product, tech and other risk teams to deliver results that have a direct impact on internal and external customer experience and implement risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Responsibilities require partnering with a broad set of leaders and stakeholders to identify existing and potential emerging risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. There is a heavy emphasis on transforming the risk profile and partnering with AI/ML leaders on their strategic initiatives to ensure they are implemented effectively with a leading edge risk posture.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of process management strategies, risk methodologies, the ability to build relationships, and think strategically. The ability to think from a 'customer back' perspective is also critical. Leaders in risk management at Capital One are highly motivated professionals with excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.

Responsibilities :

• Partner with AI/ML and leverage a trusted advisor model to support business initiatives, issue management, process improvement, control testing and related risk assessment activities

• Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, technology, services, and risk profile

• Conduct periodic risk reviews with the executives and support reporting for technology risk metrics

• Develop risk analysis, perform deep dive investigations, and drive specific risk initiatives to minimize risk posture and strengthen overall control suite effectiveness

• Implement process improvements: process certification framework, process hierarchy change management, change control, and risk reporting

• Oversee teams who are responsible for managing Enterprise process hierarchy (L1/L2 processes), controls, and other core risk foundations

• Help resolve the large thorny issues, and concerns, and develop plans to proactively manage emerging risks and regulatory focus areas

• Consult on risks across the first line of defense business and technology partners providing advice and guidance as needed

• Participate in processes criticality assessments and process level assessments

• Communicate complex ideas concisely and convincingly; adjust communication to the audience; comfortable with presenting to executive leadership

• Collaborative, values diverse perspectives and seeks insights from others

• Brings energy to their team and partners, and rallies them around a common goal

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or military experience

• At least 7 years of experience in Risk Management

• At least 7 years of experience supporting internal business clients

• At least 7 years of experience in project, process, or program management

• At least 2 years of experience with Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 8 years experience in Risk Management

• At least 8 years of experience in Change or Process Management

• Demonstrated ability to drive results and communicate with all levels

• Cyber and Risk Certifications (CRISC, CISM, CRCM, CAMS, CIPP, ABA Risk Management Certification)

• Business Process Management certification, Lean or Green Belt Certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Cyber Risk & AnalysisRichmond, VA: $205,400 - $234,400 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
