Commercial Sales & ServiceWe are seeking a credit-focused professional with strong underwriting skills and experience in a commercial lending environment. The ideal candidate will have formal credit training and experience analyzing mid to large corporate clients. This role involves supporting deal execution by assessing credit risk, preparing underwriting materials, and managing transactions through internal approval processes. A solid understanding of commercial credit fundamentals and attention to detail are essential. Experience in the non-bank lender space is a plus but not required.
This role facilitates decision-making and analysis of credit information to support lending decisions, maintaining a client service environment that exceeds customer expectations. The candidate will make credit decisions and recommendations aligned with sound credit principles and bank policies.
- Lead and execute business development plans to achieve or surpass business goals.
- Enhance service levels and client satisfaction by identifying process improvements.
- Provide strategic input into business decisions as a trusted advisor.
- Recommend strategies and new initiatives based on a thorough understanding of the business.
- Manage resources and lead the execution of strategic initiatives to meet business and financial objectives.
- Develop business cases by identifying needs, analyzing options, and assessing ROI.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop presentations, correspondence, and proposals.
- Manage databases, ensuring data alignment and compliance with governance standards.
- Lead change management initiatives, including planning, stakeholder management, and evaluation.
- Guide the creation of comprehensive credit structures for client needs.
- Work with internal stakeholders to generate ideas, identify solutions, and support marketing efforts.
- Provide financial analysis and risk assessments for new and existing customers.
- Partner with stakeholders for accurate client information.
- Prepare credit information for lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
- Assist in negotiating terms and conditions via phone and email with clients.
- Summarize and present facts and opinions on creditworthiness.
- Minimize risk exposure by adhering to credit policies and procedures.
- Contribute to operational planning and implementation.
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Operate at a group/enterprise level, serving as a resource for senior leaders.
- Apply expertise and creativity to address complex or ambiguous situations.
- Implement changes in response to market trends.
Qualifications:
- Typically 7+ years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree or equivalent experience.
- Industry knowledge combined with education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Influence and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross-group teamwork.
- Ability to manage ambiguity and make data-driven decisions.
Salary: $120,000.00 - $222,600.00
Pay Type: Salaried
The salary range and type are representative of BMO Financial Group. Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include commissions. Part-time salaries are pro-rated. The listed salary for commission roles is a target for the first year.
