Clinical Nurse II / Inpatient Behavioral Health / 24h / Rotating Clinical Nurse II/Inpatient Behavioral Health/24h/ Rotating at Beth Israel Lahey Health Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (Deaconess 4) is a 25‑bed locked unit serving patients with psychosis, suicidality, depression, and comorbid medical illnesses.
Comprehensive assessment, treatment, and discharge planning are provided for patients who pose a serious risk of harm to self or others, are unable to care for themselves, or cannot be treated in a less restrictive environment.
Electroconvulsive therapy is available within the medical center.
Job Summary The Clinical Nurse II utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference, providing direct patient care and advocating for patients and families.
This role builds on the BIDMC Nursing Mission to deliver compassionate, evidence‑based care.
Essential Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, systematically assess health needs, formulate and implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
Coordinate patient care and direct assistive personnel to deliver safe, effective, equitable, and timely, patient‑centered care.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary professionals to determine healthcare needs and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
Maintain mandatory education, including emergency skills and unit‑based competencies, and participate in professional development and quality improvement activities.
Demonstrate commitment to patient safety, accountability, and the mission of Beth Israel Lahey Health.
Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred. 1‑3 years of related work experience required.
License / Certification Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
American Heart Association – Basic Life Support certification required.

Physical & Environmental Requirements Exertion up to 50 lbs occasionally; up to 20 lbs frequently.
Stand, walk, bend, lift, and reposition patients up to 100 lbs independently; up to 250 lbs with assistance.
Endurance; work continuous periods up to 4–5 hours without a break.
Exposure to infectious, airborne, and bloodborne pathogens; use of protective gear and PPE.
Pay Range $38.00 – $98.19 per hour.
Base rate may exceed this range based on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other factors.
