Full Time | Salaried Position Position Summary The Store Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of Gala Foods Freeport, ensuring excellence in customer service, profitability, and team performance.
This role requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of grocery retail operations, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards and community values that define the Gala Foods brand.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Oversee all store departments (Grocery, Produce, Meat, Deli, Bakery, Front-End, and Prepared Foods).
Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety standards.
Monitor inventory levels, order accuracy, and stock rotation to reduce waste and shrink.
Execute store merchandising, promotions, and planograms as directed by Aurora Grocery Group’s marketing and merchandising teams.
Financial Management Manage P&L performance, labor budgets, and cost controls to maximize profitability.
Analyze sales reports and KPIs to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Approve vendor invoices, verify deliveries, and oversee cash-handling procedures.
Customer Experience Guarantee a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
Lead by example in delivering outstanding service and resolving customer concerns promptly.
Ensure consistent product quality, pricing accuracy, and in-stock conditions.
Team Management Recruit, train, and develop department managers and associates.
Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Schedule labor efficiently according to sales trends and operational needs.
Community Engagement Represent Gala Foods in the Freeport community as a trusted local supermarket.
Support corporate and local initiatives that promote cultural and community engagement.
Qualifications Minimum 5 years of supermarket management experience (bilingual English/Spanish).
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage budgets, inventory, and labor schedules effectively.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Working knowledge of POS systems, inventory software, and basic Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
