Overview Description

As the General Manager at Go Ape, you will lead the comprehensive management of our outdoor adventure park, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of guests while maintaining profitability.

You will oversee daily operations, manage staff, uphold stringent safety standards, and drive revenue growth through strategic operational and marketing initiatives.

What does a General Manager do?

Ensure site operations meet and exceed safety standards, conducting regular inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments while optimizing operational efficiency to drive profitability.

Achieve site financial objectives by meeting revenue forecasts and expense budgets, measuring results, providing feedback to head office, reviewing P&L statements, and initiating corrective actions as needed to meet financial goals.

Lead and manage a high-performing team, effectively allocating resources to optimize performance within budget constraints.

Own local marketing and sales efforts by leveraging the site team to execute social media campaigns, participate in local events, cultivate partnerships, distribute materials, and network regionally to drive revenue growth and brand visibility.

Recruit, hire, train, develop, and communicate with staff to ensure exceptional guest service, uphold safety standards, and meet financial targets, fostering a positive team environment.

Optimize site operations through efficient staffing, clear delegation, and strategic planning to meet guest demands, maintain safety, and drive revenue growth.

Coordinate efforts by disseminating corporate policies and establishing site-specific practices for staff management, procurement, marketing, maintenance, and risk assessments.

Maintain outstanding course conditions and visual brand standards to enhance guest satisfaction and brand perception.

Support daily operations as needed, including course maintenance, opening/closing procedures, safety briefings, and monitoring participants to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Maintain readiness to perform rescue operations as a trained staff member and undergo regular reassessments to ensure proficiency.

Share best practices with other General Managers and Site Managers to foster continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Conduct site safety audits and inspections per organizational and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for site operations team members.

Support PPE inspections across the Go Ape portfolio, identify trends, and ensure compliance.

Fulfill on-call duty operations during operating hours and provide ad hoc site support as necessary.

Willing to travel to other Go Ape locations to provide operational support when needed.

Act as a brand ambassador for Go Ape, embodying the organization's mission and values.

Perform other duties as required.

Requirements A passion for outdoor activities and adventure.

Ideally four (4) years of supervisory or management experience, preferably with P&L management in recreation, leisure, or hospitality.

Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of driving financial performance and operational excellence.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with customers, staff, and stakeholders at all levels.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a results-driven mindset.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.

Additional Requirements Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.

Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to pass MVR check for company driver purposes.

Ability to meet Go Ape participation requirements.

Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.

Willingness to fulfill all roles at the job site, including physical tasks and working at heights.

Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of hire and complete Go Ape Rescue Training.
