Responsible for direction and overall supervision of Students 3-5 years old in the Preschool Program.

Teaches and performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of everyone in the group.

Plan and implement daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, incorporating the Colorado Department of Education Standards.

Salary

Full time position, working a 168‑day school year.

Placement is based on a maximum of 10 years of experience, verified full‑time teaching experience and education.

Qualifications Educator meets with small reading groups daily in addition to overseeing a reading and math paraprofessional.

Position requires a Colorado teaching license.

Must have or be able to complete Colorado Science of Reading training by fall of 2026.

Experience with Colorado READ Act requirements preferred.

Possession of or enrollment in a program to obtain appropriate Early Childhood Special Education endorsement Preferred.

Must attend continuing training classes designed to broaden professionalism, education and skill involving childcare and child development as required by Federal and State regulations and administration.

Possess a strong background in integrating the teaching of reading, writing and problem‑solving skills.

The Preschool Teacher must possess personal attributes needed to develop trusting relationships with children and adults, including professional appearance, attitude, and ability.

Respect confidentiality of each child and his/her family.

Treat children, parents and staff members with dignity and respect.

Develop a sense of teamwork with co‑workers in all activities, including housekeeping, diapering/toilet training and meal service as well as lesson preparation and record keeping.

Practice good communication skills.

Knowledge and experience working with young children and basics of child development.

Knowledge of age‑appropriate activities.

Ability to be flexible with daily routines and schedules to capture nurturing and teachable moments.

Knowledge of safety issues, communicable disease management/control/prevention and basic first aid.

Skills in patience and remaining calm under pressure.

Ability to move and react quickly to handle emergencies effectively.

Skills in time management and organization.

Skills in parent communication.

Ability to supervise assistants, give instructions and delegate duties in a professional manner.

Acquire knowledge of the current curriculum and implement it in classroom plans, preparing and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.

Performance Responsibilities Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare classroom for class activities.

Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs.

Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

Use relevant technology to support instruction.

Observe and evaluate student performance and development.

Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by law, district policies and school regulations.

Prepare required reports on students and activities.

Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.

Perform (some) pastoral duties including student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.

Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings.

Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.

Adhere to Board policy and Colorado School Law.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions Requires driving from site to site.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside.

The noise level is usually moderate.

Primary functions may require maintaining physical conditions necessary for traveling, sitting (including sitting on the floor), getting up and down from the floor, and standing for prolonged periods of time; use of a computer keyboard; light lifting; and carrying.

Occasional lifting of 50 pounds or less.

Lifts of 50 pounds or more will be a two‑person lift.

May be required to lift, move or position students as needed to provide services.
