Overview The Thomas B.
Finan Center is an inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland.
It is owned and managed by the state of Maryland.
This state psychiatric facility operates 88 beds.
The Finan Center provides services to persons who are 18 years of age and older.
Location Thomas B.
Finan Center, 10102 Country Club Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.
The facility is located two and a half hours from Baltimore, MD.
Responsibilities The Psychology Associate Doctorate position completes psychological assessments of patients/residents in accordance with Center policies and Psychology Department standards to assist with patient/resident treatment planning, diagnosis, management, and treatment.
The position provides treatment services to aid patients/residents in improving their psychological functioning and accomplishing objectives specified in their treatment plans.
Minimum Qualifications Doctorate degree in Psychology, as defined by the Health Occupations Article, Title 18‑101 (g), Annotated Code of Maryland.
One year of supervised experience rendering direct psychological services, providing psychological assessments, and evaluating the delivery of psychological services.
Candidates may substitute completion of a twelve‑month full‑time or twenty‑four‑month half‑time internship in rendering psychological services for the required experience, provided the internship is a requirement for the Doctorate degree in Psychology.
Candidates may substitute U.S.
Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with psychiatric patients/residents.
Knowledge of personality, intelligence, interest and aptitude measurements.
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications Employees in this classification are required at the time of hire to apply jointly with the supervising Psychologist to the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for an exemption from licensure.
The exemption must be received within six months of submitting the application.
Special Requirements Candidates may be given a medical examination to determine their ability to perform job‑related functions.
Employees must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists within three years of appointment to a position.
