Associate Instructor (Salt Lake City)
University of Utah
Job Description
Job Summary
The College of Social Work is seeking an instructor to teach one to two courses in the BSW and MSW programs per semester. While instructors typically teach only one course per semester, this may vary depending on the program’s needs.
The courses in the BSW program include Introduction to Social Work, Social Diversity, HBSE, Micro-Practice, Macro-Practice, Research and Evaluation, Applied Social Work Statistics, and Substance Use Counseling.
The MSW program courses focus on clinical modalities (such as DBT, CBT, ACT), social problems (mental illness, addiction, trauma), and specific populations (refugees, immigrants, children, older adults). They range from core courses like Practice, HBSE, Macro, or DSM to specialized electives.
Applicants without an MSW and two years of practice experience will be limited to non-practice related courses.
Classes are offered in various formats including in-person, live distance (Zoom), and online-based. Most classes are campus-based, held once a week at the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City. Online classes are asynchronous via Canvas, and live distance classes are conducted once a week at partner sites or via Zoom.
This is a one-semester appointment with potential for future semesters based on need, space, and evaluations.
