Job Description
Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, a national leader in clinical care, education, and research, is announcing the search for the Division Director of Rheumatology.
The Division Director of Rheumatology will oversee all operations of the division, including education, clinical care, and research, with support from other administrative and faculty division leaders. This position is ideal for a collaborative and transformational leader who can build on existing strengths within the division and develop new collaborations to expand the research arm. The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic leadership across clinical, educational, and research missions, with experience in faculty development, mentoring, securing research funding, and maintaining a productive academic portfolio through peer-reviewed publications. Research focus can be basic, translational, or clinical.
The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, experienced in leading team science projects, and have a national reputation in Rheumatology. A record of scholarship and success in leading interdisciplinary initiatives are also prioritized. The division emphasizes compassionate patient-centered care, innovative research, and education for future clinicians, with active involvement in clinical research and a longstanding fellowship program.
Position Overview
The Director reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and is responsible for leading the division. Responsibilities include:
- Shaping the division's future vision and goals.
- Managing education and research in partnership with academic and clinical leadership.
- Developing plans for division expansion and research growth.
- Supporting faculty development, research, and high-quality training.
- Facilitating faculty hiring, promotion, and retention.
- Growing the fellowship program.
- Fostering collaborations across divisions and institutions.
- Promoting a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive environment.
- Exploring academic and community partnership opportunities regionally.
