Position Overview
The Director, Head of Investment Innovation and Integration is a senior leadership role within Liberty Mutual Investments’ Global Liquid Markets (GLM) team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Investment Innovation, Integration and Trading , this individual leads a four-person team dedicated to improving the scalability, adaptability, and effectiveness of GLM’s investment processes.
This role acts as a catalyst for innovation—integrating quantitative rigor, institutional insight, and modern workflow design into GLM’s platform. By fostering collaboration and a culture of curiosity, this leader aims to enable more dynamic decision-making, better investment outcomes, and organizational agility.
This is primarily an investor role. The ideal candidate possesses deep capital markets expertise and a solid understanding of investment dynamics across fixed income and macro strategies. They will combine investment insight with innovative execution , grounded in alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk management.
Success requires an investor capable of operating at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and technology—guiding and executing strategic initiatives in a complex, cross-functional environment.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic & Platform Leadership
- Define and lead a strategic roadmap to enhance decision-making and scalability across GLM.
- Identify and lead initiatives to modernize workflows and improve alpha generation, ensuring alignment with platform needs.
- Design and evolve an advanced performance diagnostic platform to better understand investment strengths and weaknesses, promote transparency, and support continuous improvement.
- Partner across GLM and LMI to integrate innovative thinking into strategic planning, leveraging internal insights and external best practices.
Execution & Integration
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve strategy formation, signal processing, and operational workflows, including tactical tools and enterprise applications developed with LMI Product and Technology.
- Drive adoption of analytics platforms, modern data infrastructure, and Python-based tools to support scalable investment execution.
- Ensure initiatives are operationalized and embedded into daily decision-making processes.
Talent, Influence & Collaboration
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering curiosity, continuous learning, and experimentation.
- Act as a strategic partner to Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Analysts, aligning innovation efforts with GLM’s priorities.
- Collaborate with LMI Product and Technology leaders to evolve the firm’s product development model, aligning investment needs with technological capabilities.
- Represent GLM externally with industry peers, research partners, and technology providers to maintain a leadership position in investment innovation.
Qualifications
- 15+ years in capital markets, investment strategy, or quantitative finance, with a proven record of leading innovation in institutional settings.
- Deep expertise in fixed income or macro strategies, portfolio construction, and quantitative methods.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering technology-driven investment solutions.
- Proficiency in investment analytics, data architecture, and programming tools such as Python, SQL, Dash, and Power BI.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA) preferred.
