The Director, Strategic Pricing & Client Value will lead data-driven pricing strategies, advising attorneys and clients on value-based pricing, fee proposals, RFPs, rate analysis, client budgets, and matter reporting to enhance profitability and relationships. You will collaborate with the P&PM team, partners, billers, and collectors to develop analytical tools and support tracking of fee arrangements and performance.
You will also help develop legal project management tools, train attorneys, and implement best practices in client management. Additionally, you will work with Practice Management and Client Development to identify growth opportunities.
What You Will Do
Strategic Pricing
- Lead and support partners in reviewing pricing proposals, payment plans, and discounts.
- Develop innovative, data-driven pricing solutions aligned with client needs and business goals.
- Create advanced pricing models that position legal investment as strategic assets.
- Consult with attorneys on pricing proposals, budgets, and negotiations, utilizing historical data and knowledge management.
- Build credibility in estimating and budgeting across geographies and practices.
- Advise on pricing strategies to drive profitability and revenue growth.
- Work with attorneys on matter performance data, client objectives, and fee arrangements.
- Analyze financial impacts of pricing and develop strategies to improve profitability.
- Stay informed on legal market pricing trends and apply new concepts.
- Maintain resources on the intranet and participate in technology reviews and innovations.
- Lead matter management initiatives proactively or as requested.
Client Project Management
- Manage relationships with clients and partners on pricing and project issues, providing analytics and reports.
- Collaborate on RFP responses related to pricing and project management.
- Ensure compliance with client guidelines and explore cross-selling opportunities.
- Develop and implement tools for effective client project management, including budgets and communications.
- Use data to monitor matter progress and identify risks.
- Recommend process improvements and track reporting deadlines.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- At least 10 years’ experience, preferably in a law firm, professional services, or legal department.
- Experience in legal operations preferred.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Leadership and relationship-building capabilities.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
- Willingness to travel (~25%) and work in a hybrid environment.
