Director, Strategic Planning and Performance (San Diego)

Your Role

Reporting to the Vice President of Medical Care Solutions, the role of the Director of Planning and Performance Enablement is critical to the success of Blue Shield of California and the Medical Care Solutions team. The Director will lead Medical Care Solutions teams in achieving department goals that create value for members, providers, brokers, and employers. This individual will oversee all aspects of business transformation, strategic planning, workforce optimization, incident management, communication, and employee engagement. A key focus will be fostering support and partnerships with leadership and enterprise stakeholders, including operations, General Managers, transformation, network management, quality, IT, finance, and growth, to prioritize and execute BSC's growth initiatives.

Your Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 6 years in management
• At least 10 years of experience in a health plan or managed care organization
• Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project teams and multiple areas; mastery level skills in a managed care environment with understanding of operations and clinical delivery
• Experience with health plan markets, sales, and account management support preferred
• Lean Sigma certification preferred
• Experience managing healthcare projects in complex, fast-paced environments
• Exceptional communication and program/project management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at an executive level
• Experience managing mid-to-large teams and influencing cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of current and emerging technology and product trends to anticipate initiatives and set strategic direction
• Ability to develop simple, elegant solutions to complex problems
• Desire and ability to mentor team members and foster professional growth through leadership by example
