As a Business Development Manager - Private Equity Law Firm Fund Formation , you will expand Carta’s market share by strengthening relationships with key partners and developing new ones. You will represent Carta within the Private Equity ecosystem, driving PE fund penetration.
The Problems You’ll Solve
- Create champions for Carta’s fund administration products (fund formation, SPV formation, valuations, KYC/AML, Tactyc, among others) within the investment management ecosystem by partnering with law firm fund formation practices.
- Generate referrals to private equity fund prospects from law firm partners by meeting with a set number of law firm contacts monthly.
- Collaborate with Product, Delivery, Engineering, Support, and Marketing to gather feedback from law partners, relay internally, and develop strategies to deepen client relationships with law firms.
- Develop and execute strategies to convert law firms without deep relationships into preferred partners.
- Coordinate with the Sales team to activate mutual business opportunities with law firms.
- Identify new ways for Carta to add value to law firm partners and generate new business.
- Aim for a 50%+ increase in referrals from law firm partners through strategic initiatives.
- Increase awareness of Carta’s fund and investor tools for venture capital and private equity funds.
- Represent Carta at industry events and meetings, with travel up to 25%.
The Team You’ll Work With
The Business Development Manager will represent Carta in-market, growing the network and developing relationships with law firm fund formation partners, counsel, and decision-makers. You will manage outreach, events, go-to-market initiatives, and product development to foster a referral business.
The team works cross-functionally to build ecosystem partnerships. Ideal candidates enjoy building relationships, driving collaboration, analyzing data, and creating strategic communication to impact industry practices.

Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of Venture Capital/Private Equity funds and industry practices.
- Strong familiarity with how law firms support VC and PE funds.
- Existing network within law firms and the investment community.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills, with experience engaging decision-makers.
- Deep understanding of SaaS business models.
- Relevant experience in Business Development, Partnerships, or related fields.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience as a fund formation attorney, paralegal, or compliance provider.
- Experience supporting back-office functions at VC or PE funds.
- Experience managing relationships with high-profile ecosystem partners.
- Knowledge of fund formation, regulations, fund administration, audits, or valuation services.
Salary & Benefits
Our compensation package includes a market-competitive salary, equity, and benefits. The estimated range for this role is:
- $180,000 - $225,000 OTE in SF and NY.
Final offers depend on location, experience, and other factors.
