Overview
We’re seeking a Director of Capital Projects and Facilities Management to lead a variety of capital projects across our communities. This role involves overseeing initiatives related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, elevators, and building envelope systems, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project delivery.
The role also includes developing 10-year capital plans, annual budgets, and supporting preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and training programs across housekeeping, engineering, and grounds departments. Additionally, the role involves energy management and facility assessments to maintain safe, efficient, and well-maintained communities.
This is a hybrid position based in Chicago , requiring onsite presence three days a week and remote work up to two days .

Responsibilities
Principal Accountabilities / Essential Job Functions:
Capital Projects
- Manage design and construction activities for projects including building envelope renovations, MEP systems, and elevator replacements.
- Ensure designs align with brand and luxury standards, optimizing functionality for senior living communities.
- Establish and monitor construction best practices, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Manage relationships with architects, contractors, engineers, authorities, and vendors for quality execution.
- Oversee projects from inception to warranty, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and quality control.
- Lead RFP processes, vendor selection, and contract negotiations for value and quality.
- Review project documentation, schedules, and change orders.
Facilities Management
- Partner with the Corporate Director of Facilities Management to oversee compliance, training, and quality assurance programs.
- Identify maintenance needs, inspect systems, and assess operational efficiency.
- Participate in RFPs, evaluate bids, and develop operational contracts.
Travel up to 50% is required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field; Professional accreditation preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of multi-site experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality industries, with knowledge of construction and MEP systems.
- Certifications: AFE or Plant Engineer Certification required; HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, EPA, and Plumbing licenses preferred. REH certification preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
Pay Range
USD $153,927.00 - USD $200,091.00 /Yr.
