Division/Program Summary: The Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use Prevention, Care, and Treatment (BADUPCT) aims to reduce morbidity and mortality related to alcohol and substance use among New Yorkers. It develops, implements, and evaluates interventions, policies, and outreach strategies, focusing on health equity and community involvement.
Position Overview: The Drug-Checking Operations Lead oversees the administrative and operational aspects of the Drug-Checking Program. Responsibilities include strategizing sample collection methods, managing site and contractor relationships, logistics coordination, data sharing with CDC, and supervising staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily operations of the Drug-Checking Program
- Develop and pilot innovative sample collection methods across NYC
- Engage stakeholders to identify data needs and analyze results
- Contribute to research activities, including protocol development and data analysis
- Disseminate findings through presentations and publications
- Build relationships with community-based sites and staff
- Coordinate logistics for sample shipping and data processing
- Maintain records and ensure data sharing with CDC
- Supervise contractors, develop scopes of work, and oversee deliverables
- Develop policies for safe sample collection, storage, and shipping
- Organize program presentations and events
- Stay updated on trends in drug checking and harm reduction
- Contribute to health equity initiatives
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in substance use fields
- Budget and contract management skills
- Proficiency in public health data utilization
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Detail-oriented with ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
- Proficiency in Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds
