The Managing Director, Medical Communications leads an agency and plays a key leadership role with clients and within the network. This senior-level leader is responsible for medical, financial, and career oversight of the agency and team. They demonstrate strategic skills, foster team growth, and leverage network resources to innovate, meet client needs, and exceed expectations. They work with the CMO to develop new department, agency, and network offerings aligned with IPG Health's vision, and keep the President of Medical Communications informed on critical matters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knowledge/Expertise
- Deep understanding of products, medical areas, competitors, and agency capabilities.
Strategic Skills/Tools
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and refine agency offerings based on scientific and market insights.
Client Relationships
- Maintain expert status with clients, drive account success, and foster growth.
Business Development
- Seek success opportunities, lead medical aspects in pitches, and support organic growth.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge/Expertise
- Review content, train team, and provide strategic medical recommendations.
- Stay updated on industry trends.
Strategic Skills/Tools
- Identify and execute medical opportunities, ensure team understanding across products and disease states, and develop best practices.
Client Relationships
- Develop strong client relations, represent the agency, and build trust as a partner.
Business Development & Operational Excellence
- Manage P&L, assist in new business efforts, and cultivate new opportunities.
Agency & Network Leadership
- Lead teams, foster collaboration, ensure accountability, and promote diversity and inclusion.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
MS, MD, PhD, PharmD required; 15+ years relevant industry experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Strong management, communication, and financial skills; proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; leadership and mentoring experience.

Salary
$290,000 to $320,000 annually, depending on experience and background.
