We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Primary Care Sales to lead the development of a new primary care sales team and launch a new COVID therapy. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving sales growth, building high-performance teams, and fostering key relationships within the primary care market, including urgent care. This role is crucial for achieving revenue targets, expanding market share, and contributing to the organization’s success.
This is a field position with significant presence expected in the home office prior to launch.
Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for our future portfolio of primary care products. Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a field team to ensure achievement of revenue and market share goals. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Market-Driven Insights: Understand market insights through customer relationships, market analysis, sales trends, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities. Use insights to refine sales strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, affiliates, and strategic partners. Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Institutional Sales teams for coordinated market engagement.
- Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team. Implement performance metrics and KPIs. Design sales competencies and a selling model to reinforce skills and behaviors. Work with Training to ensure education and certification.
- Performance Management: Monitor performance at national and subnational levels. Conduct business reviews, support planning and resource allocation, and provide sales reports to leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
- At least 15 years of sales leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on primary care.
- Experience managing leaders at a national level is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and compliance.
- Proven success in launching and marketing pharmaceutical products and exceeding sales targets.

- Ability to navigate complex decisions, work collaboratively, and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Other Requirements
- Oversight of the field sales organization and member of the Commercial Leadership Team.
- Ability to navigate regulatory environments and marketing dynamics.
- Willingness to travel ~50%+, with significant presence (~3 days/week) in the home office (Florham Park, NJ) prior to launch.
- Valid driver’s license, clean record, and ability to pass background checks.
