Chief Information Officer
Salary: $132,837 - $152,763
Classification: Administrative Exempt / Executive
Reports to: Executive Vice President

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) provides strategic and operational leadership for the institution’s information technology services. As an executive leadership team member, the CIO is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive technology vision that supports academic success, administrative efficiency, and institutional goals. This role oversees IT budgeting, compliance, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and user services while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and evolving trends in higher education.
- IT Budget Oversight & Presentations:
Develops and manages the IT operating and capital budgets. Prepares and delivers budget presentations to executive leadership, shared governance committees, and the governing board to support resource planning and institutional priorities. - Cybersecurity & PCI Compliance:
Leads the development and enforcement of institutional cybersecurity policies and practices. Ensures compliance with relevant standards, including Payment Card Industry (PCI), FERPA, and other regulatory frameworks. Oversees cybersecurity risk assessments, training, and incident response protocols. - Working knowledge of Enterprise Systems:
Expertise in managing Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and Amazon Web Services. - Technology Governance & Standards:
Establishes and maintains technology standards, architecture, and governance structures that support interoperability, data integrity, and strategic alignment across all departments and campuses. - IT Staff Management & Development:
Provides leadership and direction for IT staff, including hiring, evaluation, and professional development. Fosters a culture of service, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the IT organization. - Institutional Leadership & Collaboration (eTeam):
Serves as a member of the Executive Team (eTeam), contributing to institutional planning, strategic decision-making, and cross-functional initiatives. - Contract Negotiation, Approval & Signature Authority:
Leads negotiation of technology contracts and service agreements. Reviews and approves IT-related purchases and is an authorized institutional signatory for IT contracts following procurement and legal policies. - Escalated User Issue Resolution:
Serves as the escalation point for high-impact technology issues affecting students, faculty, and staff. Coordinates appropriate resolution and communicates with stakeholders as needed. - State IT Commission & External Representation:
Represents the institution on state-level IT commissions, higher education consortiums, and interagency working groups. Advocates for institutional needs and shares best practices within the broader higher education community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree with exceptional experience may be considered).
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in information technology
- Demonstrated success in IT budgeting, staff development, and strategic planning.
- Expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, PCI compliance, and FERPA regulations.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in information technology, preferably within a higher education environment.
- Experience with academic technologies, student information systems, and learning management platforms is highly desirable.

This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday. The salary for this position is $132,837 - $152,763annually, which includes a generous benefits package that includes the following.
