CREDIT OFFICER II - PBB
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Participates in the SBA loan origination underwriting management process by providing credit and loan underwriting expertise to a team of SBA BDOs and Personal & Business Banking Relationship Managers. This role is client-facing and manages all aspects of credit relationships for clients. It provides credit product expertise in an advisory capacity, ensuring all due diligence and background evaluations are complete and thorough before credit approval is granted. The role involves validating credit analyses prepared by Credit Analysts and offering opinions and recommendations regarding proposed credit and potential risks. Ensures all due diligence and background evaluations are complete before submitting a Credit Recommendation.
Solutions require analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of financial statements, cash flow analysis, third-party reporting, industry familiarity, collateral issues, and values.
Ability to underwrite various SBA loan purposes, including CRE purchase/refinances, debt refinance, business acquisitions, partner buy-outs, tenant improvements, working capital, and other proceeds uses.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Respond to questions from internal and external clients regarding credit policies, procedures, structuring, etc., before escalating to the SBA Credit Manager if necessary.
- Evaluate and examine SBA credit requests to assess creditworthiness, including loan quality, cash flow analysis, eligibility, risk classification, loan structure, collateral, loan conditions, pricing, and adherence to Bank policies and SBA SOP.
- Attend pipeline meetings as requested by the Credit Manager to facilitate credit decisions and assist in problem resolution.
- Manage the financial analysis and preparation of the Credit Recommendation Memo, ensuring it contains a well-supported recommendation, correct risk rating, and accurate supporting data and analytics.
- Collaborate with team members to provide credit alternatives and creative structuring, ensuring transactions meet profitability and risk standards. Restructure loans as needed and minimize bank losses.
- Correspond with the Special Assets department, including reconciliation of criticized and classified SBA loans.
- Assist in maintaining SBA loan portfolio compliance with SBA SOP requirements.
- Support early problem loan identification and timely updates on loan grades, monitor past dues based on Relationship Manager input.
- Assist with financial reviews and monitoring covenants and conditions.
- Support loan reviews and respond to audit and examination questions.
- Stay updated on Bank lending policies and regulations, consulting with managers on new or existing requirements.
- Act according to the Bank’s credit culture and strategies.
- Ensure quality controls related to products, services, processes, and colleague incentives are maintained.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in underwriting small to medium-sized and moderately complex commercial credit.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in banking or financial services.
- Experience in underwriting Personal and Business Banking commercial credit loans, including financial statement analysis, cash flow, industry familiarity, collateral, loan structuring, and financial statements of guarantors.

Compensation
Starting salary: $44.28 - $75.42 per hour, varies based on skills, experience, and location. Eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
