Our client is one of the fastest-growing private insurance companies in the country, redefining how insurance services are delivered by combining smart strategy, deep industry expertise, and relentless client focus. Their growth is driven by trusted relationships with brokers, agents, and clients, built on transparency, speed, and execution.
As they scale, they're seeking a VP of Strategy & Consulting to serve as a proactive partner to the COO and leadership team, with a specific focus on delivering strategic impact both internally and across their external client ecosystem.
About the Role
This is not a back-office strategy job. We're looking for a doer, someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, takes initiative, and drives change from idea to execution. You’ll lead strategic initiatives that support our growth, improve operations, and, most importantly, enhance the experience and outcomes for their external partners, including agencies, brokers, and commercial clients.
You’ll act as a cross-functional leader, internal consultant, and client advocate, bridging strategy with execution and delivering results that matter.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead Strategic Projects: Own and drive high-impact initiatives that directly support client acquisition, retention, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
• Client-Centric Strategy: Develop strategies that solve for real-world broker and customer challenges, whether it’s improving turnaround times, enabling better data visibility, or optimizing partnership models.
• Be a Trusted Advisor: Serve as a strategic sounding board for leadership, while also engaging externally to understand client pain points and shape responsive solutions.
• Execution & Accountability: Take full ownership of projects, from scoping and analysis through to implementation, measurement, and reporting.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with teams across the business to ensure alignment on goals and consistent execution.
• Market & Competitive Insight: Stay ahead of market trends, regulatory shifts, and competitor moves, and turn insights into clear action plans.
• Operational Efficiency: Partner with teams across the business to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in current workflows (especially those impacting external partners) and lead improvements.
• Executive Communication: Prepare clear, concise updates for the COO, leadership team, and board, translating complex issues into actionable insights.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
• Insurance industry experience, with a proven track record in strategy, consulting, or operational leadership roles.
• Strong understanding of client dynamics in the insurance ecosystem, brokers, agents, or commercial clients.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership, work autonomously, and deliver outcomes under tight timelines.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects with clear KPIs and measurable business impact.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, internally and with external partners.
• Highly analytical, data-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
Preferred:
• Background in management consulting (especially with insurance clients) or internal strategy within a high-growth carrier or MGA.
• Experience in digital transformation, client experience strategy, or field operations support.
• Exposure to M&A, business integrations, or partner enablement.
