Director, Insights & Strategy (Research, Measurement & Analytics)

Overview
Intersport, a leader in sports, entertainment, and lifestyle marketing and media for over three decades, provides expertise in the areas of:
- Agency Services: brand marketing, sponsorship consulting, experiential marketing, content marketing, and hospitality
- Properties – owned-and-operated live sports and lifestyle events and media assets airing on broadcast and digital networks
The Insights & Strategy team supports all areas of expertise and is integral to providing existing clients with a variety of solutions as well as furthering business development efforts. While all members of the Insights & Strategy team are expected to be well-rounded sports and entertainment marketers, we are seeking a candidate with experience in and passion for sponsorship measurement and analytics. Specific areas of exposure will include primary research methods, conducting secondary research through online syndicated consumer research sources, consumer survey design and data processing, and/or sponsorship asset valuation. That said, the role requires someone with interests beyond numbers and data, someone who is creative and a great communicator. Put simply, the role requires a well-rounded marketer that enjoys quantitative and qualitative challenges equally.
Responsibilities
Team Support
- Lead and assist fellow team members in providing the thought leadership, guidance and direction that serves as the foundation for the sports and entertainment marketing strategies and activation platforms of both clients and prospects
- Demonstrate and apply comprehensive understanding of client marketing objectives and how Intersport’s practice groups are uniquely positioned to achieve those goals
- Lead measurement and analytics-related support elements necessary for developing new business proposals, strategies and recommendations to clients, prospects, and internal stakeholders
- Apply skills in specific areas of measurement and analytics including:
- Primary research and survey design and analysis
- Syndicated consumer research databases
- Trend analysis levering syndicated platforms
- Qualitative research experience, as well as quantitative experience
- Desk research
- Translate findings and develop recommendations and points of view to best leverage data, research, and analytics to inform sponsorship strategy, activation, and optimization
- Develop compelling presentations that combine analytical rigor with persuasive narrative to build a comprehensive story rooted in data to bring insights to life in the real world
- Demonstrate excitement for findings and recommendations and apply an outward bound, consultative approach to informing colleagues, including members of the Insights & Strategy team, internal Intersport account teams and external client teams, about how your findings can drive Intersport’s or a client’s business
Salary and Benefits
The projected salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000, depending on full-time, non-internship professional relevant experience.
This position includes medical, dental, vision, parental leave benefits and 401(k) with company match for qualified employees. This position does not include bonuses, commissions, or other incentives.
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) years previous experience in a marketing or sponsorship role at an agency, media company, sports or entertainment property, or research company
- Demonstrated experience providing sponsorship measurement and analytics-focused deliverables
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Relationship building
- Application of superior prioritization and time-management skills
- Detail and process orientated
- Ability to produce high quality work at a fast pace
- Flexibility to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) – particularly Excel
- Experience or strong working knowledge of some number of the following syndicated research, survey creation, and statistical analysis services (or similar): YouGov, MRI-Simmons, Scarborough, Nielsen, Meltwater, Cision, Critical Mention, ComScore, Julius, Mintel, MVPIndex, SponsorUnited Sprout Social, Spreadfast, Tableau, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey, R, and SPSS
