Randstad is the #1 talent solutions provider in the world, and we are looking for a Business Development Director to join our Life Sciences West Coast team. Our team offers staffing and solutions-based services for every step of the biopharma clinical trial process, as well as support providers like CDMO and analytical labs. We provide the talent and guidance necessary to succeed, from early research through FDA approval and beyond.
What you get to do:
This position is responsible for identifying and generating new business through outside sales activities such as cold calls, prospecting, telemarketing, territory planning, and relationship building. The focus is on new sales in large accounts, dealing mainly with senior management within client organizations. Responsibilities include developing strategies to improve sales productivity, managing sales and delivery of products/services, implementing business plans, multi-site management, budget/forecast management, and fostering strategic alliances and key client relationships.
- Collaborate with management to achieve goals and objectives
- Interface with field management to establish pricing aligned with financial objectives
- Exceed client satisfaction with service delivery
- Manage accounts with combined revenue under $50 million
- Develop and execute sales plans to meet or exceed sales targets for large accounts
- Lead through middle management and establish organizational structure and supervisory relationships
- Manage and direct Account Representatives and/or Business Development Managers
- Oversee multi-functional activities of strategic importance, focusing on performance standards
- Perform prospecting to identify qualified new business opportunities
- Use consultative sales strategies to overcome objections and maximize sales within territory
- Deliver sales presentations and conduct follow-ups with prospective clients
- Make decisions critical to organizational success, affecting financial and public relations outcomes
- Represent the organization as a key contact internally and externally, conducting briefings and technical meetings
- Build public relations and network within the community to develop new business
- Collaborate internally to develop tailored sales presentations and ensure account alignment with service resources
What you need to bring:
- 5–7 years of staffing industry business development experience
- Professional experience in Life Sciences or a related field
- Proven success in selling large accounts and managing complex projects
- Experience presenting to C-level executives
- Strong consulting, leadership, management, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and process improvement
- Ability to describe and document client requirements effectively
- Bachelor's degree required; additional education preferred
- Proficiency with Google Mail, calendaring, and shared drives
